The project Urban Futures (UF) has continued forging relations with the Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC) in Turku (with an office in Helsinki) (https://www.utu.fi/en/university/turku-school-of-economics/finland-futures-research-centre).
One of FFRC members, Dr Katriina Siivonen is on the external advisory board of the UF project and was our guest in May 2022. Jasna Čapo has visited the FFRC in September 2022. She was hosted by Dr. Katriina Siivonen and her colleagues Dr. Juha Kaskinen, Dr. Maria Höyssä, Amos Taylor, Dr. Johanna Ollila, and Katariina Heikkilä.
The FFRC is a futures-looking institution established in 1992. The FFRC has been developing academic futures studies, practicing critical interdisciplinary research, as well as engaging in high quality education, strategic and business foresight and insightfully produced futures knowledge. The range of their research projects (e.g. https://www.utu.fi/en/university/turku-school-of-economics/finland-futures-research-centre/research/rescue; their educational activities (https://www.teachthefuture.org/; https://tva.utu.fi/en/) and cooperation with the Parliamentary Committee for the Future (https://www.eduskunta.fi/EN/valiokunnat/tulevaisuusvaliokunta/Pages/default.aspx) have made them into an influential societal partner to universities, the government, city municipality, business sector and all other members of the society looking forward, into the future.
