From 17 to 19 November 2025, Valentina Gulin Zrnić, Tihana Rubić, Sanja Đurin and Mirna Tkalčić Simetić conducted fieldwork in Ljubljana as part of research related to the EU Mission for 100 climate-neutral cities, in which Ljubljana and Zagreb take part. As part of the fieldwork, the team met with a representative involved in the Mission and, guided by Saša Poljak Istenič and Nina Vodopivec, undertook a walking exploration of several contested locations in the city centre.
During the visit, two working meetings were held regarding the establishment of the FUTURUS Center: on 18 November with researchers of ZRC SAZU, and on 19 November with several close collaborators and invited colleagues from various disciplines. Alongside agreeing on a framework for inter-project collaboration, the discussions focused on the concept of the Center, interdisciplinary cooperation, potential activities, and the challenges of institutionalisation in Croatia and Slovenia.
The visit was also connected to activities of the bilateral Croatian–Slovenian project “Cities and Futures” (FUTURB) and the parent project URBAN. On 17 November, Saša Poljak Istenič and Valentina Gulin Zrnić held a workshop on urban imagination for members of the FUTURB project, doctoral students of the ZRC SAZU Graduate School, and researchers of the Institute of Slovenian Ethnology at ZRC SAZU. Members of the URBAN project also attended a lecture by Nataša Rogelja Caf on walking methods in ethnological and anthropological research.
