PERCEPTIONS OF RESIDENTS OF LOWER AND UPPER TOWN, MARKUŠEVEC AND ČUČERJE, AS WELL AS PETRINJA AND GLINA
The results of research on post-earthquake reconstruction (2020–2025) were obtained through fieldwork conducted via interviews and focus groups with residents, carried out in multiple phases and within several projects in the affected cities and settlements. The research was conducted by researchers from the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb – Anđelina Svirčić Gotovac, Jelena Zlatar Gamberožić and Sara Ursić (external collaborator) – and the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research – Mirna Tkalčić Simetić and Valentina Gulin Zrnić. Since 2020, they have interviewed residents of damaged apartments and houses, and examined the reconstruction process in the field, the circumstances during reconstruction, as well as the challenges and difficulties residents have faced over the years and continue to face.
The panel is organized on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the earthquakes, within the framework of collaboration in the fields of urban sociology and urban anthropology, and two projects: Effects of the Europeanisation Process in Selected Urban-Rural Areas of Croatia (HREUURBRUR) and What Kind of Cities Do We Want? Contemporary Transformations of Urban Visions, Practices and Ethics (URBAN) – FUTURUS platform.
Both projects are funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, with the support of the European Union (NextGenerationEU), over a four-year period (2024–2027):
