Radio Student: Green Zagreb

Radio Student

On 9 January 2026, Tihana Rubić and Valentina Gulin Zrnić participated in the radio show Green Zagreb on Radio Student. The discussion focused on urban gardening and the potential of this practice to encourage multiple transformations within urban communities.

FROM THE ANNOUNCEMENT:

In today’s show, we will talk about urban gardens and their emergence in the city of Zagreb. In recent decades, the strict dichotomy between the urban and the rural has increasingly been called into question. Urban gardening appears as a response to a range of crises – ecological, economic, social, and political. These practices are explored in the publication „Vrtovi našega grada – studije i zapisi o praksama urbanog vrtlarenja“ (2015). Our guests are Tihana Rubić, from the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, whose work focuses on urban practices and cultural phenomena, and Valentina Gulin Zrnić, from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, whose research examines the cultural and social aspects of everyday life and civic participation in urban settings.
