Participants of Urban futures project and School of Slovene Ethnological Society invite you to attend a round table titled “Contemporary ethnography of the city”. The event will be held on wednesday, November 23, 2022, in the administrative building of Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana.
We are preparing the round table for the already passed 90th jubilee of prof. Vekoslav Kremenšek, phD, which we didn’t manage to mark in person, and upon approaching 60th anniversary of his research in the Green Cave, which is considered the first ethnological survey of urban space in Slovenia. We will discuss newer approaches to researching urban environments of Slovenia and Croatia, current projects, connecting with city research in an interatonal context, as well as problems and challenges in this area of research.

– Veronika Zavratnik and students of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology (Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ljubljana) – participants will present current field research og the Green Cave
– Nevena Škrbić Alempijević (Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zagreb), who recently published the book Grad kao susret (City as an Encounter) with Valentina Gulin Zrnić
– Saša Poljak Istenič (Institut of Slovene Ethnology ZRC SAZU), who will present the Urban futures project
– Sandi Abram (Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Ljubljana), who is engaged in sesory research of cities
